Welcome
I offer one to one lessons in Pilates matwork in Cambridge UK. I also teach the Alexander Technique and offer a combination of the two tailored to the wishes and needs of the pupil.
From experience, I have found that pupils who start with around six lessons in the Alexander Technique before going on to Pilates have the most success. The Alexander Technique teaches good movement and postural patterns focusing on the basics of standing, sitting, bending and walking. Pilates expands the movement repertoire, teaching and reinforcing good coordination.
Both Pilates and the Alexander Technique are 'pre-techniques' which will improve any activity. Both emphasize focusing our attention on what we are doing and the quality of our coordination and movement in activity, whether it be doing exercises or housework, sitting at the computer or the piano. Good technique minimizes risk - in exercise, in life.
Both will teach you skills which will help you feel better, both physically and mentally. And you will look better. Good posture and graceful movement are more attractive as well as healthier.
I have a special interest, and expertise in:
- back pain
- neck pain
- postural problems
- foot problems
- Repetitive Strain Injuries
- functional applications, for example, sitting at a computer or a piano
